SUMMARY:Year 5 - Celebration Day 'World at War'
DESCRIPTION:Year 5 will have a celebration day\, based on our history topic\, World at War – World War1. \nDuring the day\, children will explore what life was like for soldiers in the war\, including trench warfare\, as well as beginning to look at the impact of war from a range of perspectives.\nAll of which will develop their historical understanding\, but also give a context for their English work (where they will be writing a letter from the trenches). \nAs always\, it would be lovely if your child came to school dressed up for the day if possible. They could wear clothing symbolic of what was worn by men or women\nin the war / time period or clothing where the colours are inspired by something from the war (e.g. khaki green).

DESCRIPTION:Our reception children will have the opportunity to watch the ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ at The Derngate\, Northampton.\nThis links in with their current theme  ‘Into the Woods’. \nChildren will be leaving school at 12:00pm\, therefore\, lunches will be affected on the day.\nPlease can your child be sent to school with a packed lunch and any hot dinners that have been arranged for this day to be cancelled.\nThe children will return to school in time for normal collection time.
